How do I get a benefit quote and proposal?

The Michigan Beverage Collective is open to interested members at any time. Feel free to email Katie Gray at cgray@mbwwa.org or Autumn Ward at award@mbwwa.org or click the Contact tab above.

Why are participating members limited to breweries, wineries, and distributors in the state of Michigan? And, why must they be members of the Michigan Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association to participate?

The Michigan Beverage Collective is an Association Health Plan administered as a nonprofit voluntary employee benefit program. Due to federal regulations, employers participating in an Association Health Plan must be members of the same Association. Also, all participating employers must be in the same trade, industry, line of business, or profession.

Does the Michigan Beverage Collective lobby or advocate for or against laws regulating the alcoholic beverage industry?

No. Michigan Beverage Collective activities are limited to the administration and marketing of medical, dental, vision, and short-term disability group health plans.

How do we become a member of MB&WWA?

Click Become a Member at www.mbwwa.org.

Must an employer begin participation on January 1st?

No. Like many other programs, an employer is welcome at any time throughout the calendar year. However, the Collective’s benefit coverage year is January 1st through December 31st. In the case of an employer who begins participation as of July 1st, that employer’s coverage would again renew on the following January 1st.

Must an employer participating in medical coverage also participate in dental coverage?

No. Employers are free to participate in all, one, or any combination of lines of coverage provided by the Michigan Beverage Collective.

Are there any coordinating lines of coverage such as life insurance or voluntary programs available?

Yes. Although the Michigan Beverage Collective is designed to provide only medical, dental, vision, and short-term disability, MBWWA Services, Inc. provides long-term disability and life and dismemberment insurance to participating members through The Harford. Accompanying voluntary programs are also made available, including Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and Identity Protection through Allstate and LegalShield.

“Michigan Beverage Collective offers numerous choices and options for our company to choose from. They provide education to both managers who work with the benefits and to the employees on their plans. I feel confident any plan MBC offers will protect our employees and their families from expensive premiums and out-of-pocket costs while not sacrificing care.”
